Substance Use/Addiction

Substance use disorders and addictions do not discriminate—they affect people of all ages, races, spiritual backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses. Substance use disorders and addictions are a disease, not a choice. Addiction goes beneath choice and decisions—it goes into genes, brain chemistry, and adapted coping skills. I understand that the grip of addiction can wreak havoc on lives, despite serious efforts to stop. I also understand the struggle of watching a loved one suffer from addiction. Therapy can address both substance use and addiction, as well as the needs of the friends and family of the affected person.

Recovery is possible. You are more than your addiction.
